Oil Paintings – with Tears
When you have a painting with tears, we will be happy to restore it. We don’t recommend that you take the risk of doing this yourself.
If it is a modern painting with a sharp cut, that restoration will be less complex than the restoration of an antique painting with a torn brittle canvas. Over time, canvases get more brittle and need more attention.
The complexity of closing the tear is dependent on the brittleness of the paint layer, ground layer, and fabric.
Choosing restoration materials for a painting may depend on where the painting has been stored or hung.
