The oil painting portrait has been in our client’s family for generations. It was originally in Connecticut and moved around the US until it ended up here in Houston. It had quite a few cuts, abrasions, holes, spills, stains, and indented areas, plus it needed cleaning.
As we began the precision cleaning, we made a startling discovery. . The varnish used by the previous restorer was similar to thin translucent animal skin.
